2013 Florida Cracker Live at DaySpring
Florida Cracker Live Model Horse Show
RULE #1 Have fun!
There is a 4 horse limit per entrant per class
Each class will have placings to 6th.
Judging will take place in six rings by six judges.
First and second place equids will receive a NAN card in all qualifying NAMHSA classes.
HALL OPENS AT 7:30 AM AND JUDGING BEGINS AT 9 AM!
2014 Scheduled Judges:
Julie Harris, Cathy Hill, Susan Candelaria, Brittany Callahan, Kathy Amick, Kimberley Smith, Jill Wright
Judges and Entrants must observe all NAMHSA rules including, but not limited to: A person may not show and judge in the same division at a NAMHSA member show. A division is defined as one or more grouped classes such as "OF Breyer Plastic", "Custom Glazed", or "OF Performance". A judge may not judge any model that he/she has worked/collaborated on. A judge may not judge any model which he/she owns or has owned within the last six months. A judge may not judge models owned by relatives of the judge (to include any relations by blood or marriage, significant others, co-habitants). A judge may not judge any models owned by any individual who co-owns one or more models with that judge.
Judging of Halter Classes: The judge's opinions will be based on correctness as compared to breed standard for conformation and color, visual perfection of the finish (as much as possible), beauty and presentation. The horse color should be breed standard acceptable. If your horse cannot stand well, you should consider making it a stand that does not alter the original finish for OF classes. If it is lying on its side, it is harder to judge and you would not want it to potentially tip over into other horses from a wobbly standing position. If the horse is lying on its side, the judge must be able to pick it up to see the other side.
Judging of Performance Classes: The judge's opinion will be based on correctness of the breed type and tack for the particular event which will be described by the entrant on an index card. It will also be based on realism and condition of the combination of horse, tack and props. If a rider or handler is used, correctness of rider or handler position and apparel will be taken into account as a prop. A 3" x 5" index card with description of performance event being shown must accompany your identification card. Unusual events are welcomed, so the description helps.
What must accompany each class entry and call back in order to be judged: A 3" x 5" index card for identification with the Horse's Name, Breed, Color & Gender on the front and your Name, Stable Name, Address (OR Return Address Label) on the back must be placed on the show table with your horse. You may hand print the cards or, easier still, print labels from your computer. Make sure that you have three cards for each Halter Class Entry and two for each Performance Class Entry so that you are ready for call backs. It is best to have too many than not enough. You can even bring extra cards in case you acquire new horses to show that day. You may use MS Word or Publisher to create a data base by using a Merge file so that it is easier EVERY time you show. If you use the 8160 Avery Sized Labels, they are great to use for your index cards and small enough to use on string tags when folding in half. String tags are not required for the show, but are a good idea to prevent picking up the wrong horse by accident. String tags will NOT replace index cards. Index cards are mandatory, since they will be used as the judges' records for the placings and results. The judges will pick up the card for each winner up to 6th place and champions/reserves in the call backs. If you use labels, make sure that they are super sticky! (I learned this the hard way with my "Colorful Images" labels that I will never use again!) Results will be posted on this website once all results are compiled.
Show Ring Etiquette and Tips:
Do not touch any models except your own unless that person has verbally permitted you. Please promptly place your models in the ring for the first class and as soon as the previous class's models have been removed. Remove your models promptly so that each class may be punctual. Some classes will move faster than others. Be polite to the other show persons, their guests and the judges. Do not speak to the judges during judging. Do not crowd the judging tables (rings) during judging. If space permits, a call back table will be provided for 1st & 2nd Place winners to be called back for the Division Championships. Otherwise, you will need to bring them back from your own table along with their ribbon, NAN card & replacement ID index card. Division Champions and Reserves will be called back for the Grand Overall Champion and Reserve Champion judge off. Keep your listening ears and comfortable shoes on so that you may be extra efficient! Set up and clear as quickly as possible. This will make the show go faster. There is not a specific end time, but we will shoot for just before dinner time!
The judges' decisions are at the sole discretion of the judges and all decisions are final. Florida Cracker Live places an emphasis on presentation, showmanship and sportsmanship. The main goal is to have fun with our horses and fellow horse lovers. Of course, there is no denying that winning is fun!
Novices will compete with experts, so novices are encouraged to study as much in advance as possible so that you will be well prepared to compete. Please contact the show holder for additional references in advance if needed. Experts are encouraged to remember that we were all novice once and to mentor where possible. Horse people tend to specialize in certain areas and we can never know it all. Do not be afraid to ask, however. When your horse is being judged, it is too late. If your horse is in the wrong class, it will be subject to disqualification.
